For Curd(dahi)

1/2 tsp black salt
2 tbsp imli chutney
1 tsp sugar

Dahi Bhalle is a common dish in many regions of India. It's mostly made with urad dal. But here I used chick peas (kabuli chole) for making bhalle for more healthier option.

Chick peas are high in protein which is highly beneficial for development of children. It stabilizes blood sugar level and lowers bad cholesterol. Due to high fibre content and low GI, chickpeas are excellent for weight loss diets. Salad with chickpeas are tasty and can keep you full longer, controlling the appetite.

Bhalle are made by frying. In this recipe, instead of frying I used appam pan. If you wish you can deep fry it.

These bhalles are not as soft as made with urad dal, so to make it softer I added them in hot water with 1/4 cup milk in it for about 5 minutes. Keep aside. Transfer in normal water temperature. Squeeze out the water and put in curd.

Put this bhalle in curd at least 15 minutes prior serving.

METHOD

Wash and soak chickpeas overnight. Grind it to smooth paste adding little water. It should be of bhalla consistency not thin.

Take appam pan, grease with oil, fill all the whole with batter. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes.

Bhalle are ready.

Take curd beat it well for smooth consistency. Add all the ingredints metioned under dahi (curd)

Mix well.

Take chick peas bhalle. Put in 1 cup hot water with 1/4 cup for 2 minutes. Tansfer in normal temperature water and squeeze out the excess water.(sorry as I forgot to take the pic of this step).

Put in curd. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and imli chutney.

Serve chilled.
